Tom sez:

The concept of species wasn’t invented for thousands of years after Noah’s Ark. What it says is 2 of every KIND. For instance a dog, wolf, coyote and fox are all the same kind of animal where a mountain lion is obviously a different Kind of animal.

Tom, we had a recent visitor named rickl who said nearly this identical thing. It seems Christians are reading the same apologetic material. See our discussions here:

I once believed God instructed Noah to build an ark to house two of each of the millions of land species

No wonder you have trouble believing this one. The Bible doesn't say anything about species. The concept of species wasn't invented for thousands of years after Noah's Ark. What it says is 2 of every KIND. For instance a dog, wolf, coyote and fox are all the same kind of animal where a mountain lion is obviously a different Kind of animal. Not to mention a great many animals are sea dwellers and wouldn't need to be put on a boat.

Before you so quickly dismiss the stories in the Bible, keep this in mind. The Bible is the most historically accurate of the ancient texts that there is. Thanks to the dead sea scrolls we also now know that it hasn't lost its accuracy over the centuries.

If you're the least interested in whether or not the Bible is true, I suggest you pick up "The Case for Christ" by Lee Stroebel. He is a former athiest and investigative legal reporter. If not then nothing that I or anyone else says will matter.

I once believe that God caused the sun to stand still for a full day in order for Joshua to kill more of the enemies of Israel. Does this mean the earth stopped spinning for a day?

I have the same problem with the miracle of Fatima: the sun danced around... in the sky? Don't people realize that: a) such an effect cannot be both real AND localized and b) it would have totally messed up the solar system something awful?

Of course, if you go and stare at the sun on the orders of a real-life Luna Lovegood, your eyes WILL start spasming from all the damage you are doing to them...
