@ HeIsSailing : thanks for the insight =) And not to be excused. It’s the kind of feeling I sometimes get when discussing religion with my parents.

My mother especially : we had an argument once with my girlfriend, and she – my mother – told that she just couldn’t imagine making Good without God being the one leading her to do so..! She couldn’t see the point in it… And when confronted to obnoxious things like crucifixion, she’ll just say that they interpret it badly, that f*** holy Bible which no one seems to undertand the same way ^^

So well… whatever the reasons, if a religion just carries people to act like that, it doesn’t deserve to be followed…

Just another thought – about three years ago, I was entering our local parish for mass with my wife (who is from Philippines). In the foyer, just before the flask of holy water, were several photos of crucifixions in Mexico hanging on the bulliten board. I looked at them.. and looked and …. I told my wife I could not go in that building. I felt like puking right there. The catholic church may officially condemn it, but I think deep down, they admire it as a sign of devotion. Why else would those disgusting photos be on the front bulliten board next to the missals?

‘They are so poor, but they have such Faith’, I have heard concerning these people. Fuck that. Fuck that and fuck any religion responsible for that abomination on humanity.

I do believe that day was a reall turning point on my leaving Christianity.

Excuse the language, but it is sincere and appropriate.

and yes, those are real whips and nails. To be fair, the Catholic church condemns this practice, but I still find it nauseating. To think that religion has convinced these people that they are worth nothing more than to be beaten bloody to be of any value before their god – it is just disgusting.

Jeez… are there still people who crucify themselves ? Just for the sake of “feeling Jesus’ Passion” ? I’d like to learn just a bit more about that.
